GREEN BAY -- With colder weather upon us, people in Green Bay spent the day gaining a better understand of the stresses of poverty and homelessness.
Members of the surrounding community gathered at Grace Lutheran Church for poverty simulation. Each person received a set of situations and a sample poverty income. Then, they had to figure out how they would support their families on that money.
"The number one thing when we do our surveys that people say would help the most is a livable wage," says Karen Early, the Nutrition Education Coordinator with the UW Extension Office.
The church also collected donations today to help those in need this holiday season.
