GREEN BAY -- Brown County's Homeless and Housing Coalition is working to increase awareness of poverty in Northeast Wisconsin.
Community members were encouraged to participate in a poverty simulation tonight taking on the roles of families in need. The simulation included exercises like deciding how to provide for a family's basic needs on little or no income.
"The purpose of this simulation is really to sensitize people who are not in poverty to the day-to-day lives people experience when they don't have resources to make ends meet," says Karen Early, with the Brown County Cooperative Extension.
Organizers say this simulation will serve as a foundation for the activites during the Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week in November.
