GREEN BAY -- The heat is on and with it comes concerns for your pets.
Certain breeds of dogs and cats can overheat very quickly because of their thick fur. This means pet owners have to take extra measures to keep them cool. The Bay Area Humane Society says, don't leave your pets outside or in a car for too long when it's this hot.
"If you're taking your dog out in a car, remember that at a temperature of 85 degrees, in 10 minutes, the inside of the car can get up to about 110 degrees," says Bay Area Humane Society Executive Director Stephen Heaven.
The Humane Society says if your pet starts to show any signs of overheating, such as excessive panting, immediately cool them down with water and take them to a vet.
