Outrage Over 9/11 Discount Offer at WI Golf Course

CREATED Sep. 10, 2013

VERONA, Wis. -- Outrage ahead of the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

A southern Wisconsin golf course is advertising a 9/11 Special. It offers 9 holes and a golf cart for $9.11 per person or 18 holes and a cart for $19.11 per person. Now, people are accusing the owner on Facebook of trying to profit off of others' losses, even giving him death threats. But owner Marc Watts says, he had only good intentions of commemorating the lives lost.

"I haven't stoppped shaking since yesterday. I haven't eaten. We stopped answering the phone after we started getting death threats," says the golf course's owner.

The golf course in Verona does plan on being open tomorrow, but police will be on site due to the death threats. Watts says he plans to donate some of the money, but hasn't decided how much or to which group.
