ALGOMA, WI- Several small communities in northeast Wisconsin may soon find their police departments under new management. The police chiefs in Algoma and Mishicot are both resigning meaning village leaders may be looking to their counties' sheriff's departments to take control.
Howard, Bellevue, Suamico, and Allouez use the Brown County Sheriff's Department as their police department. Now town leaders in Algoma and Mishicot could follow suit as a way to save money. Algoma budgets nearly a million dollars each year for their police department.
