Appleton Man Speaking Out on Syrian Conflict

APPLETON, WI- An Appleton man born and raised in Syria is watching the conflict closely.
He's concerned about his friends and family. Khaldoon Alaswad was born in Daraa, Syria. the place where the revolution started more than two years ago and with his family and friends suffering he is speaking out asking the U.S. to intervene in his home country.
"We wanted to tell the world, that this Syrian regime is planning in killing everyone," says Alaswad.
His mother still lives in Syria. A country where the regime has killed more than 100,000 people. Alaswad, a doctor in Appleton knows five of three thousand physicians executed. One being his senior classmate.
"Put a bullet in his head in front of his five children because he was an ENT doctor and was providing medical care."
He tries to keep in contact with his family and friends concerned no help will come.
"You kind of get numb and I'm actually not worried about my mom as much as I worry about the whole country and the whole people of Syria."
Alaswad has been active in the community raising awareness of the situation. This weekend he will travel to Chicago for a speech on the Syrian conflict.
