GREEN BAY, WI- The closure of the Leo Frigo Bridge is expected to impact the Highway 41 Construction Project that's already causing back-ups. DOT leaders say they may have to adjust. There are overnight closures on 41 as they tear down the Hansen Road bridge and work on several172 ramps. Add that with this bridge closure and you get many unhappy drivers.
The DOT is planning planning to bring in a traffic researcher to see if some closures should be pushed back.
"We're going to continue to coordinate with them and find out what work has to be done," says Traffic Engineer Randy Asman.
But in the meantime the DOT is recommending drivers take alternate routes in downtown Green Bay to cross the Fox River.
Asking trucks to use 172 and drivers use the Walnut and Mason street bridges.
"It helps if the locals alleviate some of the traffic we anticipate will be going to 172," says Mark Kantola with the Highway 41 Project.
Tonight is the last night for the Hansen Bridge closures however 172 closures are scheduled until spring. The DOT could make changes as early as next week.
