GREEN BAY – The Leo Frigo Bridge has reopened in Green Bay Sunday morning. The bridge has been closed since September, after a pier on the bridge began to sag.
Crews have been working on the bridge for months and finished early
“When we realized the degree of the problem that we had, nobody could fathom that here we'd be on January 5 opening the bridge already,” said Bruce Enke, Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation.
Sunday morning, plows finished clearing traffic lanes, and laying a heavy layer of salt on the bridge, that hasn't seen traffic in months. Then the final roadblocks were removed.
An average of 40,000 cars travel over the Leo Frigo Bridge every day.
