GREEN BAY -- Teachers at Green Bay's Eisenhower Elementary are getting a helping hand for this school year.

Today, as part of Sam's Club and Walmart's Teacher Rewards Program, the teachers were surprised with a $50 gift card and gift bags full of school supplies.

"It's overwhelming because we really are dedicated workers and we always try to do our best and we want what's best for our kids and it's really nice to be recognized," says Eisenhower second grade teacher Miss Carrie Koenen.

"The kids are excited, the teachers are excited, we even gave cookies to the kids, so it's a fantastic program," says Green Bay East Walmart Store Manager Duane Vanstraten.

It's estimated that teachers and aides spend an average of $500 out of their own pockets each year for classroom supplies.
