Harbor House Recovering from Fire
APPLETON, Wis. -- 65 women and children, forced out of their temporary homes after a fire at Harbor House in Appleton are moving back into the domestic violence shelter. The fire earlier this month caused nearly $60,000 in damage.
Half of the victims impacted by the fire had to stay in Red Cross Shelters. "They were a little rattled, we kind of settled them down gave them a place to stay and sleep that night." Sharon Holt of the Red Cross explained.
Now that the harbor house is open again, the red cross is packing up their cots and reflecting on the experience. "The lesson learned is that everybody should have a plan in case something like this happens". Holt reminded.
For those who call Harbor House home, they're thankful to be back in their own beds tonight.
