GREEN BAY - Green Bay Police say they're seeing a big spike in bicycle thefts throughout the city.
57 bicycles have been stolen since May 1st, with 21 of them stolen just this month. Officers say the thefts are being reported city-wide and are reminding people to make sure their bikes are secure.
"There's a variety of reasons why crime occurs, but you know with these bike thefts the weather could be a good indicator why this is occurring. There's a lot more people out and walking around," said Lt. Kevin Warych.
Officers say owners have a better chance of recovering their bikes if they're registered with the city. Green Bay bicycle licenses are free of charge.
