Green Bay Police Officer Injured and Hospitalized After Crash

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- A Green Bay police officer was injured and hospitalized in what the department calls an OWI related crash.

The incident happened just before 9:00 Sunday night near the 900 block of Lombardi Avenue. According to a news release, the officer was leaving a parking lot and was hit broadside by a black Cadillac heading east on Lombardi Ave.

The driver, a 25 year old Green Bay man was also injured.

Green Bay police plan to recommend several charges to the Brown County District Attorney's office including: Operating While Intoxicated (4th offense), Operating While Intoxicated Causing Great Bodily Harm, 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Causing Great Bodily Harm By Reckless Driving.

The officer is an 11 year veteran with the department. The conditions of the driver and officer have not been released.
