Monday, July 29 - Sunday, August 4
The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration takes to the skies with excitement and thrills throughout the weeklong event. The family friendly event is held in Oshkosh, Wisconsin at Wittman Regional Airport, and EAA hosts a variety of activities, both on the ground and in the air.
Events and activities planned for the week include:
Opening night concert kickoff - July 29
Legendary band Chicago rocks the stage on Monday night following the afternoon air show. The concert, presented by Ford Motor Company, will be held on the Phillips 66 Plaza and is free to all AirVenture attendees that day.
Warbirds in Review - July 29 - August 4
WWII era warbirds take to the sky daily and Friday and Saturday they fill the sky with an amazing, hour-long demonstration. More than 250 warbirds are expected to attend this year's event. Throughout the week, visitors can get an up close view of these beautiful birds on display at Warbird Alley and participate in two daily presentations about these well-known military aircraft and the people who flew them. Presentations take place at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday, July 29, through Sunday, August 4, at the special aircraft display area on Warbird Alley. New for this year before each presentation (9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.), the Warbirds Living History Group will entertain the crowd, showcasing their authentic uniforms and flight gear. They will be followed by 1940s-style singer Theresa Eaman, who was such a hit last year that she'll return to sing songs befitting the era, beginning at 9:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. each day.
CAF Red Tail Squadron Rise Above Exhibit Returns - July 29 - August 4
The Commemorative Air Force's Rise Above traveling exhibit returns to EAA AirVenture this year, honoring America's first African-American fighter pilots during World War II, the Tuskegee Airmen.
Texas Flying Legends Museum (TFLM) Skytrooper arrives with WWII Vets - July 29 - August 3
Heroes of WWII, who flew many of the TFLM's various aircraft types during their military service, will be on-hand throughout AirVenture to share their experiences. These veterans will participate in the popular Warbirds in Review presentations, which take place at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday, July 29 through Sunday, August 4 at the special aircraft display area on Warbird Alley. Warbirds in Review will feature 11 aircraft, many which have never been seen at EAA AirVenture.
Jetman - July 30, August 1, 3 & 4
Yves "Jetman" Rossy, sponsored by Breitling, will make his public debut in the United States at AirVenture. Using a carbon-Kevlar jetwing with four engines, the Swiss aviator is able to propel himself through the sky at upwards of 150 mph, controlled by a simple throttle in his hand and his shoulders, body, and legs to steer, pitch, and descend.
Night Air Show and Pyrotechnics - July 31 & August 3
A dazzling display of night aerobatics will thrill onlookers featuring pyrotechnics, and capped off by fireworks, considered the best in the Midwest by many. The event, presented by Rockwell Collins, starts at dusk.
Special Preview Screening of "Disney's Planes" - August 2
Be the first to see what's sure to be a box office smash as Disney offers a special screening of its new movie, "Planes." This animated comedy adventure from above the world of the popular 2006 film "Cars" has the entire aviation community buzzing! The special preview takes place one week before the movie is released nationwide. "Dusty" the crop duster, the movie's hero, will also be onsite throughout the week.
Salute to Veterans Day - August 2
Friday's AirVenture is dedicated to retired and active duty military personnel to honor their service and sacrifice in defending freedom throughout the world. Events include the Parade of Veterans, an Honor Flight for Vietnam veterans, daily Warbirds in Review featuring rare aircraft from World War II and a concert by Gary Sinise & The Lt. Dan Band hosted by the Disabled American Veterans and the EAA Warbirds of America. There are also discounted daily admission for veterans and active duty military available throughout the week.
Vietnam Vets Honor Flight - August 2
For the first time, Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight, in partnership with American Airlines and Oshkosh Corp., will bring a group of Vietnam veterans to our nation's capitol. This special, one-time flight commemorates the 40th anniversary of the end of hostilities in Vietnam and will give 100 veterans the opportunity to visit the powerful Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and other sites honoring their service and sacrifice. EAA will host the flight on Friday, August 2, as part of the Salute to Veterans activities throughout the day.
AirVenture Salutes Heroism and History with 'Tora! Tora! Tora!' - August 2 & 3
AirVenture will remember the heroism and history involved in the beginnings of World War II, as the "Tora! Tora! Tora!" aerial re-enactment of the events of December 7, 1941, returns to Wittman Regional Airport during this year's convention and fly-in.
Family Day - August 4
Families can visit AirVenture on Sunday, August 4 at a reduced cost! Children age 5 and under are already free but, on Family Day, all students (age 6-18) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
