GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay community is coming together Friday night, after a fire that damaged Green Bay Preble High School’s gym.
The Green Bay Bullfrogs held a 50/50 raffle, while another local high school, offered their facilities for the athletes at Preble High School to use.
The Bullfrogs share Joannes Stadium with the Preble Hornets.
“If we can get them back into their home gym, their home court, a little quicker, we're happy to do it,” said Liz Kern, General Manager for the Bullfrogs.
Friday the team sold 50/50 raffle tickets. During the 7th inning, a winner is drawn and they get half the money, while the other half helps repair the gym.
“It’s impressive, a small effort goes a huge way,” said Jean Claus, who bought raffle tickets.
Also on Friday, the principal at Bay Port High School tweeted saying the school would be willing to help Preble in any way.
“It's about kids. We understand how important those things are, how hard they work all summer to prepare for a season,” said Mike Frieder, principal at Bay Port.
Preble's dance team will likely using the gym at Bay Port. And the football team could also donate some extra equipment to those at Preble.
“We understand that when you have a loss, it's more than the building, it’s all the equipment that's in there,” said Frieder. “It's small compared to what they're going through right now so we want to help in any way that we can.”
