Charges Filed in Connection with Oconto Christmas Day Fire

OCONTO, Wis. -- An Oconto man faces several charges in connection with a fire that destroyed a neighborhood tavern on Christmas Day.
Police say Donald Tappa intentionally set fire to the Log Jam Saloon during the early morning hours of Christmas Day. According to a news release, Tappa became a suspect in the fire after a patrol officer observed Tappa sitting in a vehicle across the street from the tavern before the fire was reported.
Tappa faces several charges including Arson, Theft and Criminal Damage to Property. Oconto Police Chief Daniel Ault says Tappa has been in custody since January 8th on a parole violation.
