GREEN BAY -- As you get ready to start up your campfire this weekend, the DNR and Wisconsin Department of Agriculture are doing their part to stop the spread of parasites like Emerald Ash Borer and Gypsy Moth.
This summer, they're selling certified firewood that has been processed to free of invasive pests and diseases. The only other way to help prevent the spread of pests is to buy local. Within Wisconsin, travelers are not allowed to bring firewood from anywhere outside a 25 mile radius of their destination.
