Peaceful End to Appleton Standoff

UPDATE-- Appleton police say tonight that the standoff on South Harmon Street has ended peacefully. The suspect turned himself in just before 10:30 p.m. The Police Department posted on Twitter tonight,
"Situation on S. Harmon St. has been resolved with the surrender of the individual to APD SWAT members. Thank you for your support." and "Standoff ended without violence. Great job to all involved APD units!"
Appleton, WI -- Appleton police say the armed man involved in a standoff with officers has released the two children from the home. The babies are under the age of one. They were not injured and are currently being reunited with family. Police confirm that the armed man is a relative of the children.
The standoff started around 3:30pm on Tuesday on the 1300 block of South Harmon Street. Officers say a man with a gun was threatening to do harm. Multiple law enforcement agencies and the swat team have had limited communication with the man. Officers have blocked off South Carpenter Street and East Harrison Street near Reid Municipal Golf Course and are telling neighbors to stay indoors.
