Appleton Firefighters Donate to Veterans in Need

CREATED Aug. 5, 2013

Appleton, WI -- Appleton firefighters are working to help area veterans and their families in need. The local firefighters union has been raising money for several years through T-shirt sales to the public. On Monday, they donated that money to the Fox Valley Veterans Council to help with their veterans emergency fund.

"Over the last several years, we have sold red T-shirts that we wear on Fridays to support the troops, and we also sell them to the public, and through that over the last couple of years, we have raised a couple of thousand dollars," said Mike Woodzicka, President of IAFF Local 257.

100% of the money raised goes to local veterans' needs which including rent, utilities and education. The T-shirts are still for sale at Fire Station #1 in Appleton.
