OSHKOSH - The government is issuing a health alert about tainted treats that are making pets sick, and even killing them.
Nearly 600 dogs and cats have died after eating popular jerky treats. A leader with the Oshkosh Area Humane Society says if you're not sure what's in your pet's treats, don't use them.
"By jerky it's usually something dried, so it's like a chicken jerky, a venison jerky, a duck jerky... and the concern is how it's prepared with bacterial infections," said medical coordinator Tawana Hanamann.
According to the FDA, most of the tainted treats come from China -- but there isn't one particular brand to watch out for.
