KAUKAUNA, WI-- Hundreds hit the streets of Kaukauna this morning for a walk to raise awareness for suicide.
It's the 4th annual event helping those families who've lost loved ones to suicide. The Center for Suicide Awareness started the walk in 2010 as a way to also provide resources to handle emotion and grief.
“This is another chance to say, how can we work together. And education and getting people involved and making people aware, if you need help, ask for help, that's suicide prevention,” Barb Bigalke, Executive Director Center for Suicide Awareness.
All proceeds from today go directly back into organizing the walk and helping the community with suicide prevention efforts and promoting the need to openly discuss the issue of suicide.
