APPLETON,WI- Utility crews working into the night to restore power to tens of thousands of people. WE Energies reports more than 40,000 customers mostly in the Appleton area are in the dark tonight. Wisconsin Public Service says roughly 2,000 in Brown County and East to the Lakeshore are without power right now.
It may take days to get everyone connected again. About 400 personnel from WE energies working all day and into the night trying to restore electricity, but say it's going to take some time. Power companies say it could take three more days to restore all electricity. Broken poles and downed wires slowing up the process.
"It's very labor intensive just to replace one pole. It takes time. It takes resources," says Barry McNulty of WE Energies.
Safety is still the top priority for both customers and restoration crews urging people to avoid downed power lines as there are still many of them around.
