ASHWAUBENON, Wis. -- The United States Bowling Congress will host their professional tournament at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in the summer of 2015. The tournament is going to last 26 days and run from July 17 to August 11.
"The best bowlers from all over the world will be coming to Green Bay, over 1,000 of the best bowlers," said Pete Tredwell, the managing director for USBC.
The event will include 6 different tournaments including the Masters for the guys and Queens for the ladies.
"The U.S. Bowling Congress has never linked 6 events together before ever in their history," said Brad Toll the spokesperson for the Greater Green Bay Business Bureau.
There will also be ways for the community to get involved and even bowl with the pros. "It's going to be open to the public. You're going to get a chance to bowl with the pros in our programs," said Dave LaBar the owner of Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley.
Leaders with the Green Bay Convention and Visitor's Bureau say the tournaments are sure to have a big financial impact on the city.
"Just from the visitors spendings over 1.4 million dollars, but in addition to that national TV coverage," said Toll. The events are scheduled to take place from July 17th to August 11th of 2015.
Organizers with the Green Bay Visitor's Bureau say this event took years of negotiating to get set up. The tournament will be open to the public, but they say there will most likely be some sort of entrance fee for the tournament.
