TOWN OF POUND-- Autopsies are planned this afternoon after two people died, one shot by Marinette County deputies.
It began Monday night when deputies received a call around 10 PM about a suspicious person, who was armed in the Town of Pound. When they responded to the area, they found a car had crashed into a house and the man inside had been shot. He was transported to a hospital in Green Bay where he later died.
The investigation led officers to another man with a shotgun and a handgun inside a car. He refused to drop his weapons and pointed one at officers.
Deputies then shot the suspect, who died on the scene. Officers say the suspect was in his 70s.
No officers were harmed in the incident. The sheriff's department says the public is not in any danger at this time.
Investigators say the names of the victims will be released on Tuesday.
The road leading to the shooting scene will be closed for the rest of Monday as the investigation continues.
