Appleton, WI -- Appleton's fire department is using technology to help its cause. Tuesday night, a passenger was thrown from a car during a rollover accident. First responders could not find the victim, so the fire department used a thermal imaging detector to find the person. Firefighters say this is a great tool in any emergency situation.
"If we can find the person or the victim quicker and get them out of a bad situation, it helps their survival. Same thing with a situation where we use it for the ejection from an auto accident or rollover," said Appleton Fire Department Captain Jordan Steel.
Captain Steel says they also use thermal imaging to help police officers search for suspects.
