HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- U.W. Green Bay athletic director Ken Bothof has been named athletic director at Northern Kentucky University. Bothof was officially named A.D. by the Northern Heights based program on Wednesday.
"What he's accomplished at Green Bay is impressive," NKU President Geoffery Mearns told the media during a news conference.
Bothof helped raise $11 million in private funds to complete the $33 million renovation and expansion of the Phoenix Sports Center. He also developed an outdoor facilities plan that includes new soccer and softball facilities, as well as expanded recreational and intramural opportunities.
NKU officials said annual contributions to Phoenix Fund at Green Bay tripled and membership quadrupled during Bothof's tenure at the school.
"I would like to thank former Chancellor Bruce Shepard for giving me the opportunity to lead UW-Green Bay and Chancellor Tom Harden for all of his support over the past four years.
I would also like to thank the many talented administrators, coaches, student-athletes, Phoenix supporters, colleagues and friends that I have worked with at UW-Green Bay. I am incredibly fortunate to have grown alongside them and have learned from every one of them.
My wife Carrie and I have so many special relationships with so many wonderful people in Green Bay and we will miss them."
Bothof begins at Northern Kentucky on August 19th.
