8 Arrested in Prostitution Sting

CREATED Jun. 14, 2013

HOWARD-- The Brown County Sheriff's office continues to crack down on prostitution in the area, making 8 more arrests this week. Last month, more than 20 individuals were charged with crimes related to prostitution.

The females arrested in this latest sting operation ranged from 16-40 years old. One woman was charged with child trafficking among other charges for allegedly encouraging a 16-year-old female from Green Bay to be a prostitute.

The women face fines in excess of $60,000 for violating a Village of Howard ordinance requiring women who work as escorts to obtain a license and register with the village. The ordinance is aimed at preventing prostitutes form working within the village limits. No one has ever applied for a license, according to village administrators.

Police are not saying how they made contact with the girls to conduct the undercover sting.
