APPLETON -- A mobile food truck is making its way through Appleton this evening, but it's not selling fast food.
Riverview Gardens is selling fresh fruits and vegetables out of the truck for anyone in the area who can't afford to purchase the produce at a supermarket. The produce is 50% off for WIC card holders and participants in the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition program. Riverview Gardens hopes to bring better nutrition to those in need in the area.
"The intent of these mobile market stands is to create a focal point for neighborhood community development by offering opportunities for people to come and access high-quality fresh produce in their neighborhood," says Riverview Gardens manager Oren Jakobson.
The truck is available at these locations:
Mondays: 3 to 7 p.m. at Riverview Community Center, 1101 S. Oneida St.
Tuesdays: 3 to 7 p.m. at Randall Court Apartments, East Randall Street and North Durkee Street
Wednesdays: 3 to 7 p.m. at Jacobs Meat Market on East Pacific Street and North Center Street, and St. Mary’s Parish, South State West 7th Streets
Thursdays: 3 to 7 p.m. at Columbus Elementary School, North Appleton Street
Saturdays: 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Appleton Downtown Farm Market, College Avenue across from Harmony Café
