GREEN BAY -- It was a very special day for St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.
The hospital has been celebrating its 125th anniversary all week, but the activites culminated today with a day-long picnic for anyone associated with the hospital. The hospital also features a "Heritage Display" today featuring videos and photos from its years of operation. It also shows off artifacts from the hospital's found year in 1888, which highlights the facility's unique beginnings.
"The Bishop here in this community called Springfield and contacted them via letter and said, 'Can you send some sisters? We have loggers that aren't getting healthcare'," said Chief Nurse Executive Paula Hafeman.
The German-themed anniversary picnic goes until 7:30 tonight and honors the German heritage of the women who started the hospital.
