Ashwaubenon, WI -- An historic night at Austin Straubel International Airport Monday evening. A water canon was part of the celebration to welcome Delta Airlines' first-ever non-stop flight from Atlanta to Green Bay. Leaders from Brown County and the airport put on a "Welcome to Green Bay" party when the plane landed. They say this new daily, non-stop service will mean a lot for the airport and travelers.
"What it really means is that people will be able to connect to hundreds of different destinations. One stop and one connection service to virtually any destination in the world," said Airport Director Tom Miller.
The flights will operate seven days a week. Miller says if this route is successful, the airport will look into adding bigger planes.
