ALLOUEZ, Wis. -- Investigators say it may take 4 to 6 weeks to find a cause of the Allouez apartment fire. According to a news release from the Green Bay Fire Department, the official status of the fire is "Under Investigation"
The May 23rd blaze destroyed the Hilltop Place Apartments, forcing more than 100 people out of their homes. Estimated damage to the property is in excess of $3 million.
The building has been turned over to the owner.
Many of the 107 victims did not have renter's insurance and lost everything. Even those who did have renter's insurance say it cannot replace the pictures and family memorabilia lost in the blaze.
Several businesses have stepped forward to help raise money and start donation drives to help the fire victims. The Red Cross is also helping those victims with emergency cash, clothing and finding a new place to live.
