The Bay Area Humane Society is lending a helping hand. There are hundreds of dogs without their owners in Oklahoma and shelters are running-out of space to house them. Thats where the volunteers here in Green Bay come in.
The bay area humane society has partenered with the Central Oklahoma Humane Society for several years now.
So it only makes sense that volunteers here in Green Bay would come to the rescue
Taking 25 dogs from Oklahoma.
The tornado in Oklahoma left nothing behind but also left many animals homeless, looking for their owners. Employees at the Central Oklahoma Humane Society have been working countless hours keeping those pets safe.
"The problem is that shelters like us, we have all these current animals in our space, so we have to make space for all the tornado victims," says Central Oklahoma Humane Society Director Christy Counts.
That's where the Bay Area Humane Society comes in.
"Be a small part of it," says Karen DeBaker of the Bay Area Humane Society.
Plenty of room is available.Today a van rolled in carrying twenty five dogs, after travelling hundreds of miles they were immediately vaccinated weighed and ready for adoption.
"The animals that we're taking in are ones that would be euthanized down in Oklahoma and we believe we can provide a family for them in Wisconsin."
"Get them spayed and neutered and available for adoption as soon as possible so they can be in their forever homes," says Olivia Webster of the Bay Area Humane Society.
A couple of sleepless nights for volunteers at animal shelters in Oklahoma
"It's critical that Green Bay steps in."
And a key partnership.......
"Everybody looks out for eachother."
Provides a place to go for these 25 dogs.
The Bay Area Humane Society has already received plenty of calls to adopt these dogs. However you can also make a donation to the humane society as well if you want to help out.
