GREEN BAY - Monday kicked off a week-long celebration putting the Salvation Army in the spotlight.
It's all part of the 59th Annual Salvation Army Week. Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt made the official proclamation at city hall Monday morning. He praised volunteers for the work they've been doing and asked others to step up and help the organization.
"I would ask people in our community if they could help the Salvation Army in any way, and we've done a good job in this community, but it's everyday that they're there and everyday we need to be there for them," he said.
The Brown County Salvation Army has been helping those in need since 1851.
