GREEN BAY - Leaders with the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon say they're making some changes to this weekend's race.
Last year's marathon had to be cancelled halfway through due to extreme heat and humidity. 18 runners had to be sent to the emergency room.
This year, organizers say they're working to improve communication between medical workers and race staff.
"We've been working real close with police and public safety officials to assess the risk, and right now the messages we're getting is there's no reason to expect an increased risk level," said race director Sean Ryan.
Other changes include moving the medical tent to an area further away from spectators and streamlining the process for cancelling the event if needed.
The marathon begins at 7:00 Sunday morning.
