GREEN BAY -- One of the most important jobs of the Wisconsin Treasury Department is returning unclaimed property to its owners.
Today, the department teamed up with Associated Bank in Green Bay to return the contents of a long-lost safe deposit box to an Oneida woman. The box contained some of her most treasured photographs.
The state Treasurer says, it's giving back that makes his job worth it. "In these tough financial times, if we can just give back $50, $100, $500 back to these folks and back into their pocket, that's going to benfit them more than it's going to benefit us," Deputy State Tresurer Scott Feldt said.
The Department also presented unclaimed property checks to several people from Green Bay.
