NEENAH, Wis. -- A local Army National Guard veteran is running for those who can't.
Aaron Hunnel was on the treadmill at the Neenah-Menasha YMCA until he raised $2600 dollars for Team Triumph. He started at 5:30 this morning. Team Triumph is a non-profit mentoring organization that raises money for specialized athletic equipment for those who can't walk. Aaron says he's running for his friend and inspiration Katie Neuman.
"I met a girl named Katie who has cerebral palsy and she inspired me to want to do a triathalon with her. So I wanted to do a Half-IronMan with her and decided that this summer would be the time that we do it," Aaron said.
He says he's going to be her "legs" in the event. And we're happy to report he reached his fundraising goal earlier today, but decided to keep going until 5:30 p.m. to see how much money he could raise.
