GREEN BAY - The article in Tuesday morning's Green Bay Press Gazette has gone national and it paints a very unflattering picture of UWGB head basketball coach Brian Wardle.
Former Phoenix player Ryan Bross alleges that Wardle forced him to continue a conditioning drill until he had an accident and then ridiculed him afterwards.
Speaking on WNFL's "The Maino & Nick Show" Tuesday morning, star guard Kiefer Sykes had an entirely different take on the incident and said that afterwards, Wardle actually tried to protect Bross.
"I just remember after that happened, coach clearly stated that if anyone says anything about the situation or anything that they will be removed from the team.
"So for the allegations to come out that coach made fun of it and basically cursed him out after it happened is definitely not true. He actually protected him," said Sykes.
Center Alec Brown also talked with Maino and Nick Tuesday morning and had this to say about what's been painted as an abusive situation.
"Honestly, I don't agree with the things that are being said. I've been there the longest out of any of the guys, and I feel like if I had personally seen anything that's happening I wouldn't still be here. A lot of the stuff is not, not happening the way it's being said."
