Appleton, Wis. -- An Appleton runner is more motivated than ever to return to the Boston Marathon. We caught up with Chad Gruett when he returned home Tuesday night, the night after the bombings killed three people and injured 184 others. Gruett was four blocks away from the finish line when the blasts happened, but he had completed the race more than an hour before the explosions. It was supposed to be Gruett's fifth and final Boston Marathon but, after Monday's attack, he says he wants to compete again next year.
"I think a lot of runners are thinking the same thing, as a sign of solidarity and support for the events. So I think it kind of strengthened people's resolve as much as anything," said Gruett.
Gruett used social media and email to let family and friends back in Wisconsin know that he was OK. No one in his group of runners got hurt.
