Fond du Lac Runner Escapes Injury in Boston
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A Fond du Lac woman who was near the finish line of the Boston Marathon when two deadly bombs exploded was among those surrounded by smoke, confusion and chaos.
Forty-year-old Jean Rusch was nearing the finish line Monday when the initial explosion filled the street with smoke. Rusch says she started to run faster and the second bomb went off and echoed through the buildings.
Rusch tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/13aePnN ) the next hour was difficult as she tried to find her husband and couldn't reach their four children at home because there was no cell phone service.
She was among approximately 400 Wisconsinites who registered for the marathon. About 350 from Wisconsin finished the race, including Rusch.
