Thousands Without Power After Latest 'Winter' Storm

Appleton, Wis.-- We Energies reports more than 20 thousand customers are without power in Appleton and other areas in the Fox Valley after Wednesday morning's round of ice and snow snapped lines and toppled poles in the area.
Wisconsin Public Service says nearly 5,000 of its customers are without power as of 11:30 AM, WPS reports Oshkosh, Green Bay and Wausau were the hardest hit areas in its coverage area.
In Oshkosh, 3,300 are in the dark. crews are also dealing with broken power polls that could take more than a day to repair or replace. there are 1,900 dealing with power problems is Waupaca.
WPS and We Energies warn everyone not to approach or touch downed power lines and treat them as if they were energized.
