GREEN BAY, WI-- Pope Francis is making an impression on local Catholics on his first Easter.
St. Francis-Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay is one of several area sanctuaries people gathered at to celebrate the Holy Day.
Green Bay Bishop David Ricken preached a message of hope and love.,
Local Catholics say they expect pope francis to perform his duties well this Easter and beyond.
"I think what he's shown us in the few days already in this holy week as the new pope, that he just has a special understanding, i think, of people's hearts," said Cate Gard.
"The young people who are faithful and really want truth, are flocking to the church and to the pope," said Maria de Meuse.
"He's looking to help the poor out a lot more, he's very humble, very dignified in what he does," said Andrew Keller.
"I like the way he's reaching out to people of my age, and all across the spectrum," said John Gard.
