APPLETON -- Outagamie County will not be helping with an effort to boost economic development in the Fox Valley.
A proposal to spend $150,000 toward the Appleton Regional Partnership didn't pass a county board vote last night. County leaders say despite that, the initiative is a step in the right direction for the local economy.
"I thought of this as a way for the county to play not just a role, but a leading role in helping leverage over $800,000, both private and public dollars to help the goal of economic development and job creation," said Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson.
The Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce is leading the initiative and they say Outagamie County backing out is a negative step for the initiative. Sixteen other municipalities have already signed on as well as several private investors.
