February and March are two of the busiest months of the year when it comes to gambling. The college basketball tourney may come at a time when compulsive gamblers are already in trouble.
Betting on matchups is common amongst the fans, but even small bets can lead to gambling problems.
Rose Gruber works with addiction counselors and gets around 1200 calls a month from people with betting issues. She says after the holidays and the Super Bowl is when gambling problems begin to arise.
Setting a dollar limit may keep people from going too far.
It's also important to make sure you stick to a time limit when it comes to gambling. Treat it as entertainment and treat your losses as the cost of having fun.
