Bellin Run Training

GREEN BAY -- Marathon season is coming up fast and tonight, Bellin Health is kicking off a free training program for the Bellin Run.

The weekly class is open to runners and walkers who are signed up for the big race. Organizers say it's a great way to get in shape and get prepared.

"This is an exciting time of year for me personally and for our whole Bellin Health system because we start to see more people getting active and that's what we want, that's our goal through the Bellin Run," say Bellin Health Running Expert Nate Vandervest.

Each week, the training group will listen to a 5 to 10 minute talk indoors, work on a series of stretches outdoors, and then hit the surrounding neighborhood for a training run or walk. Training routes for the 12-week program start at one mile and build to six until participants can complete the entire race. The program is designed to help runners or walkers go from the "couch" to completing the race.

The Bellin Run starts at 8:00 a.m. on June 8th.
