GREEN BAY - Tuesday's record-breaking DOW numbers are serving as encouragement for businesses in Northeast Wisconsin. Leaders at the Green Bay Business Expo say they're a sign that things are finally looking up.
"People are starting to think like the worst is over.. and they want to get out and promote themselves," said Keith Lutz with HBBA Group.
Tuesday's networking expo featured close to 200 businesses, and all were eager to showcase what Green Bay has to offer.
"Everyone seems really positive that the economy is turning around -- that new businesses are starting, and their businesses are growing," said Heather Wessley with the Fox Communities Credit Union.
"We're seeing a lot of new things happening all over the community," said Michael Witte with the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.
Witte says the DOW numbers reflect a local economy that's headed in the right direction.
"We have companies like Schreiber Foods, Schneider National -- that compete on a global market scale. And it's all based right here in Green Bay," he said.
Witte says the chamber's main goal is to focus on workforce development -- by training and educating workers to help local businesses grow.
