CAMPBELLSPORT, WI--The Campbellsport community is mourning another tragedy. The high school's associate principal and athletic director Lance Beyer was killed in a crash, Sunday. It happened at highways Q and G, in Marshfield.
It's the fourth deadly crash in just the last year. Everyone is leaning on each other for support, as they grieve and remember Lance Beyer.
"You don't really know how to take it or what to say to people anymore ...It's been a tragic year here," sais assistant wrestling coach at Campbellsport, James Wiesner.
The Fond du Lac county sheriff's department says Lance Beyer didn't stop at a stop sign, and was hit by an oncoming car.
Wiesner was shocked to hear the news. He remembers Beyer fondly. The school's associate principal and athletic director hired him.
"He always said hi, he was an upbeat guy, he was fun to be around, always in a good mood" said Wiesner.
Campbellsport's principal describes Beyer as a hard worker, proud husband, and loving father to a three-year-old daughter and an eight-month-old son.
"Our job will be to always remember Lance and all the great things he did and stay in touch with his kids and wife. Make sure they know they are always a part of us" said Campbellsport principal, Kristen Langer.
It's a time to grieve, for the man who helped them cope with so many tragedies.
"Words can only say so much when this keeps happening" said Wiesner.
Students got the sad news Monday morning. All after school activities were cancelled, and grief counselors were on hand for support.
