GREEN BAY-- The area's largest school district is making plans to help prepare students for the 21st century. Green Bay's superintendent calls it “the district's road map for the future.”
"Our teachers and our staff work diligently hard and they want what's best for kids and i'm very excited about the strategic road map in terms of moving us forward," Superintendent Dr. Michelle Langenfeld said.
The goal is to make sure every student graduating high school is college, career and community ready.
To boost graduation and testing rates, the district wants to improve its science, technology, engineering and math curriculums while adding a new charter school that blends online and classroom learning.
One of the biggest challenges for the district's sucess in implementing the plan is the budget. Langenfeld says despite a rise in enrollment, the district is nearing a financial tipping point.
The district wants community input on this plan and has set up a series of at least six public meetings beginning in January, planned for a variety of times and locations.
