ASHWAUBENON-- Paul Ryan was greeted by nearly 700 supporters as an enthusiastic crowd hopes to bring Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes to the republicans. Ryan says he is very excited to be back in his home state.
“I see your cheeseheads, it makes me homesick and hungry at once,” Ryan said.
Ryan stopped at Ful-fil Net's warehouse in Ashwaubenon, calling the family-owned company a perfect example of the American dream come true.
"They built this business,” Ryan said.
Supporters like small business owner Jack Tuttle say the Romney-Ryan ticket can boost the economy.
"This is very important, about the taxes for our business, moving the country forward,” Tuttle said.
The national debt and taxes are two issues many republicans care about, and for Ryan, it's about getting back to basics when it comes to government.
“We’re not going to try and transform this country into something it was never intended to be, we're not going to try and replace our founding principles, we are going to re-apply our founding principles,” Ryan said.
Ryan says Wisconsin has a good chance of turning the state red for the first time since 1984. In addition to his Ashwauebnon appearance, Ryan made two other stops in the state.
