ASHWAUBENON--The song "Runaway Train" consumes the room. Paul Ryan's cue, as he wastes no time derailing President Obama.
"This is not what an economic recovery looks like. Look at our poverty rates. The fiscal cliff that's giving so much uncertainty to businesses,” Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan said.
Ryan talked with hundreds of supporters at a town hall meeting in Ashwaubenon Wednesday and took their questions inside.
Outside, protestors fill the air with a different song.
Randy Bryce an unemployed iron worker from Racine, made the drive to grab a sign.
"He has no plan for jobs. His big thing is trying to hurt seniors with his coupon care, and that's not going to bring any kind of jobs. His budget does nothing to get people back to work. Since he's been in office it's gone downhill,” Bryce said.
But Ryan hopes his Wisconsin roots take him up to Capitol Hill.
"It's not too late to get the country back on track by reclaiming principles that built this country. That gets America free. That gets our economy growing. That people hope. That get us back to prosperity, jobs and opportunity,” Ryan said.
