TAMPA, FL--Governor Scott Walker took center stage Tuesday night as he spoke at the Republican National Convention. Walker's speech lasted about six minutes. His focus: the budget reforms he made here in Wisconsin that sparked a nationwide debate.
Wisconsinites had a choice on June 5th, and now Americans do too.
"Elections have consequences," said Gov. Walker.
Speaking at the Republican National Convention, Governor Walker touted the changes he's made in Wisconsin. He says he's moving the state forward, creating jobs and a better business climate.
"Today, 94% of our employers believe Wisconsin is headed in the right direction," said Gov .Walker.
Wisconsin delegates in Tampa are calling it a "Cheesehead Revolution."
"The values and beliefs that we have pushed in Wisconsin are influencing the national theme," said delegate Sol Grosskopf of Shawano.
Republicans say the country is headed in the wrong direction. Forty-two straight months of unemployment above 8 percent, and more than 12 million people without a job.
Governor Walker says Mitt Romney is the man who can turn the country around.
"He balanced state budgets without raising taxes in a way that helped the private sector create more jobs," said Gov. Walker.
Governor Walker is confident, with Paul Ryan as Romney's VP nominee, that change will come.
"With this pick it shows the "R" next to his name doesn't just stand for Republican it stands for reformer."
Republicans hoping to rally their party, with 70 days until the election.
