MILWAUKEE-Wis.--Chilling 911 calls from the Oak Creek Sikh Temple shooting on August 5th have been released by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department. The calls document the horrifying moments as Wade Michael Page fired shots inside and outside the temple that killed six people.
Page was shot by Oak Creek Police Lt. Brian Murphy who was seriously wounded in the attack. Page then took his own life ending the incident.
The recordings outline the events as temple members called for help during the attack. One caller can be heard whispering to dispatch officers while hiding in the temple pantry. The sound of what could be gunfire can be heard as a caller described what was happening.
Sikh leaders returned to the temple less than a week after the tragedy. Members and volunteers swept, scrubbed and painted to repair the damage caused by the incident. They left one bullet hole in a doorway leading to the kitchen area as a reminder of the shooting and to honor the victims who died in the attack.
